We are now dealing with deep time. A perusal of the 2012 International Stratigraphic Chart posted by the International Commission on Stratigraphy or the 2012 Geologic Time Scale posted by the Geological Society of America may be in order.
Matt Sponheimer's Class Stuff
Welcome to Class Stuff. You will find assorted posts and readings that are at least tangentially related to my classes on this page. This is meant to be a student resource, albeit a loosely organized and broad one. For those who are interested in learning a bit about my work there are links to some of my publications and my CV on the sidebar.

ANTH 4110 Book
This is just a reminder that the book for ANTH 4110/5110 is Reconstructing Human Origins: A Modern Synthesis (3rd edition) by Glen Conroy and Herman Pontzer (below). Richard Klein's The Human Career is also excellent but is better suited for graduate level courses. It is a great resource for those who plan on pursuing a graduate degree in biological anthropology or archaeology.

Lemons to Lemonade
Dynamic Ecology has a great story on the melange of hard work, persistence, desperation and luck (good or otherwise) that is graduate school. The regularity with which I hear such accounts is remarkable. Graduate students and those considering graduate school should read it.

Stuff I'm Reading
Students in my upper division classes might find some of the things I'm reading of interest. Therefore, I'm going to post a list of things that I'm perusing at http://msponheimer.wordpress.com/. Bear in mind that my posting a link to a paper is not tantamount to my endorsing it. Doing so only signals that the paper is of relevance to my research or that of my students.
Hope the semester has started well.
